The New Interface System has now moved into a beta phase, open to all members prior to its launch with RuneScape 3. We were delighted with the response to the last alpha build (particularly the quality of constructive feedback we received) and we're really excited to be able to show the NIS to an even wider group. We can't wait to see what you make of it.
We said it before, and we'll say it again: your feedback is the driving force of the New Interface System. We've continued to keep a close eye on your requests and ideas on the forums and in the move to beta we added more of your requested features, including:
The action bar can now be minimised in a similar way to the live game.
You can now quickly open action interfaces (such as your inventory) straight from the management interface ribbon.
Whenever you lock or unlock your interface layout, there is now clear graphical feedback.
So, if you're a member, try out the NIS beta and have your say on our dedicated feedback forums! Experiment with different layouts, customise to your heart's content and then let us know what you think.
As with the alpha, the NIS beta is run on a dedicated server separate from the game, so you'll play without any risk to your valuable items. This is also the first beta build, so bear in mind that there'll be bugs and functionality issues. See here for details of how to report these to us.
In the near future, the beta will be updated to allow free players access, prior to the release of RuneScape 3.
Finally we'd like to thank everyone who took part in the alpha. The feedback we received was both encouraging and honest. It's really helped us to shape the system, and you also came up with lots of cool ideas we never would have thought of! Now that the beta phase has started, we'd love it if you'd keep logging in, trying out the features you helped to create, and giving us your thoughts on how the NIS is shaping up.
So - if you haven't already - log in, let us know what you think and help us to make the New Interface System that you want to see.
